BD Vacutainer 10ml Serum Red Blood Collection Tubes

BD Vacutainer 10ml serum tubes are used to obtain a serum sample. To be able to obtain serum samples from plastic tubes, a coagulation activator needs to be added to the tube. The 10ml BD Vacutainer serum tubes have the additive silica sprayed on the inside walls of the plastic tube to trigger coagulation within an acceptable time. The serum tubes have the acronym CAT on them, meaning Clot Activator Tube.
