BD Microtainer® Plasma Tubes with Separating Gel, Lithium Heparin and UV Protection are designed for the collection and processing of small-volume capillary or venous blood samples. Supplied in a pack of 50, these compact collection tubes provide a practical option for professional healthcare and laboratory environments where smaller specimen volumes are required.

Each tube contains lithium heparin and a separating gel for the preparation of plasma samples. Following appropriate collection and processing, the separating gel provides a physical barrier between the plasma and cellular components of the specimen.

The tube also incorporates UV protection, making this particular Microtainer® configuration suitable where protection of the collected specimen from ultraviolet light is required as part of the relevant laboratory procedure.

A clearly visible fill-level marking assists with collecting the required volume of blood and maintaining the correct ratio between the specimen and additive. This is particularly important when working with the smaller sample volumes associated with Microtainer® blood collection tubes.

The specialised BD Microtainer® design supports contained handling during collection and subsequent laboratory processing. The compact format is suitable for both capillary and appropriate venous blood collection procedures when used according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Compatible tube extenders are also available separately. These allow Microtainer® tubes to be accommodated in centrifuges and laboratory equipment using standard 13mm x 75mm racks.
