BD Microtainer® Plasma Tubes with Lithium Heparin are designed for the collection and processing of small-volume capillary or venous blood samples. Supplied in a pack of 50, these compact blood collection tubes are suitable for professional healthcare and laboratory environments where smaller specimen volumes are required.

Each tube contains lithium heparin as an additive and is designed for the preparation of plasma specimens. The compact Microtainer® format provides a practical option when only a small quantity of blood is required for the relevant laboratory procedure.

A clearly defined fill-level marking is incorporated into the tube design, providing a visual guide during blood collection. This helps users collect the appropriate specimen volume and maintain the correct ratio between the collected blood and the additive contained within the tube.

BD Microtainer® Plasma Tubes can be used for capillary or venous blood collection when appropriate collection procedures are followed. Their specialised design also supports contained handling of the specimen during collection and subsequent laboratory processing.

For laboratories using centrifuges designed around larger blood collection tubes, compatible tube extenders are available separately. These enable the compact BD Microtainer® tubes to be accommodated within centrifuges and laboratory equipment using standard 13mm x 75mm racks.
